Palworld Coralum Ore: How to Farm the Deep-Sea Material (No Mining Required)

Palworld Coralum Ore cannot be mined. There are no ore nodes anywhere on the map. You get it by salvaging ocean debris with a Fishing Rod and Powerful Fishing Magnet (Tech 62), by hunting and breeding Whalaska, by fishing at Fishing Ponds, or by producing it at the Ancient Material Synthesizer (Tech 78). The fastest early route is Whalaska drops on the Isle of the Glacial Core, then breeding two Whalaska and disassembling the offspring for passive income.

This guide reflects Palworld 1.0, which left Early Access on July 10, 2026. Coralum Ore arrived earlier with the Tides of Terraria update (v0.6.0) and is now core endgame progression.

What you need before you start

  • Character level around 50 to 62 for the intended routes. The Advanced Fishing Rod unlocks at level 45, and the Powerful Fishing Magnet at Tech Level 62.
  • A Water Pal you can ride. Salvage requires swimming, not flying.
  • A Fishing Rod and Powerful Fishing Magnet in your inventory.
  • For the breeding farm: one male and one female Whalaska, a Breeding Ranch, a Disassembly Conveyor, and Cake to start each egg.
  • For refining: the Gigantic Furnace (Technology Level 61), where Coralum Ingot is refined from 5 Coralum Ore + 30 Ore + 20 Coal.
  • For the Synthesizer route: Tech Level 78, 5 Technology Points, 50 Paloxite Ingot and 10 Ancient Civilization Core, plus a Pal with Level 6 Mining to assign to it.

Stop looking for ore nodes, Coralum Ore is not mineable

Coralum Ore has no ore nodes anywhere on the map. The in-game description says it is "retrieved from the depths with a magnet and fishing rod," and that is the whole design of the material.

Generic "ore farming" guides that recommend bringing mining Pals to a deposit are recycling Chromite or standard-ore boilerplate. Ignore them. Chromite is the buried-node material; Coralum is the ocean-loop material. Different acquisition, different Pals, different tools.

Keep the two-tier chain straight, because this is where most players waste resources:

Item What it is Recipes it feeds
Coralum Ore Raw drop from salvage, fishing and Pals 3 direct recipes
Coralum Ingot Refined product 18 recipes

The Ingot is the real bottleneck. Your ore should flow toward Ingot production first.

Salvage ocean debris with the Powerful Fishing Magnet

Unlock the Powerful Fishing Magnet at Tech Level 62 and carry it alongside a Fishing Rod while mounted on a swimming Pal.

  1. Swim through open ocean and along coastlines until you spot floating debris, a cluster of wreckage and crates sitting on the water's surface.
  2. Approach the debris and interact with it when the prompt appears. On keyboard the default is F; on controller it is X on Xbox layout and Square on PlayStation layout.
  3. A timing prompt appears on screen: a marker travels across a bar and you must press the interact button as it crosses the highlighted zone. Pressing inside the zone completes the salvage.
  4. Collect the loot from the debris.

A missed press is not punished. The salvage point stays in place and the magnet is not consumed, so you can immediately try again.

Salvage around high-level zones like the Isle of the Glacial Core pays better than low-level water. Polygon's testing found the drop rate in low-level zones appears lower than in high-level spots that require powerful fishing magnets.

Keep Jellroy in your party while you do this. Its Jellroy Drop Partner Skill raises items obtained from salvaging by 55% to 95%, and condensing it pushes that higher. Jelliette works similarly for fishing rewards.

One caveat worth knowing: players report salvage piles can be hard to spot. Check your view distance, the biome and the magnet requirement before assuming the method is broken, and fall back to fishing ponds or Whalaska if the ocean is being uncooperative.

Hunt Whalaska on the Isle of the Glacial Core

Whalaska is the headline Pal source. The preferred farming spot is the far north, northeast of the Astral Mountains on the Isle of the Glacial Core, with Whalaska spawning around level 50. Bring Ultimate Spheres or better if you intend to capture rather than kill, you need two for breeding anyway.

Drops are random, so expect to knock out several before Coralum Ore accumulates (some guides, such as ProGameTalk, describe Whalaska drops as guaranteed, so results vary by source). Neptilius (Alpha, Isle of the Glacial Core) and Whalaska Ignis (World Tree, night) also drop it.

You can also build a Fishing Pond or Large Fishing Pond and assign a Pal to fish. Catches land in the Cooler Box on the structure's side, and Coralum Ore is among the possible rewards.

Breed Whalaska and disassemble the offspring for passive ore

This is the method to scale. Salvaging suits small top-ups; breeding suits sustained crafting.

  1. Capture one male and one female Whalaska.
  2. Build a Breeding Ranch and place Cake in its chest. Place Cake in the Breeding Ranch chest; after some time, collect the eggs that appear.
  3. Collect each egg and hatch it in a Large Incubator to produce offspring.
  4. Run the unwanted offspring through the Disassembly Conveyor instead of keeping them.

One community player reports that disassembling a set of bred Whalaska nets about 32 Coralum Ore; Polygon notes each disassembled Whalaska yields at least one Coralum Ore. It is passive and cheap once set up. If you are new to the ranch side of the game, our Palworld 1.0 Breeding Guide covers cakes, mutations and how to lock in the passives you want.

Refine Coralum Ore into Coralum Ingot

Coralum Ingot is refined at the Gigantic Furnace (Technology Level 61) from 5 Coralum Ore + 30 Ore + 20 Coal.

The Ingot is energy-resistant and described as ideal for weapons, and it feeds 18 recipes. This is where your ore should go first.

Priority build: the Large Fishing Pond at Tech 69. It costs 4 Technology Points and 20 High Quality Wooden Board, 30 Stone and 10 Coralum Ingot, and it then feeds more fishing-based ore income.

Longer term, the Ancient Material Synthesizer at Tech 78 lets you produce Coralum Ore directly at base. That is the only "mining" Coralum ever involves.

Run the Ancient Material Synthesizer

Once you have the structure, the loop is straightforward:

  1. Build the Ancient Material Synthesizer (Tech 78). It costs 5 Technology Points, 50 Paloxite Ingot and 10 Ancient Civilization Core.
  2. Assign a Pal with Level 6 Mining to the structure from the base's Pal assignment menu.
  3. Load the required input materials into the Synthesizer.
  4. Let the assigned Pal work the structure, then collect the finished Coralum Ore from its output slot.

If you are still short on cores, our Palworld Ancient Civilization Parts & Cores breakdown covers every tier.

Top up from Expeditions and the World Tree

Pal Expeditions and enemy base raids can yield small amounts. The earliest Expedition for Coralum Ore is Sunreach Isle, requiring at least 20 Dragon Pals. Azurobe, Chillet, Elphidran and Relaxaurus are breedable early options if you do not have a Dragon roster yet.

World Tree standard resource spots roll Coralum Ore x12-25 on a guaranteed slot, plus Heat- and Cold-Resistant Ancient Armor Schematic 1 at 18.4% each and the four World Tree weapon schematics at 7.9% each, according to palworld-db.

Treat both as supplements, not primary farms.

Common mistakes

  • Mining for it. There are no Coralum Ore nodes. Any guide telling you to bring mining Pals to a deposit is wrong.
  • Forgetting the magnet. Standard salvage spots need only a Fishing Rod while riding a swimming Pal; the high-quality spots that pay more loot require a Powerful Fishing Magnet (level 62) as well.
  • Flying to salvage spots. You must be mounted on a Water Pal, not a flying mount.
  • Refining ore you should be saving. Check whether a recipe needs raw Ore (3 recipes) or Ingot (18 recipes) before smelting everything.
  • Skipping Jellroy. Farming salvage without its Partner Skill leaves 55% to 95% extra loot on the table.
  • Expecting guaranteed Pal drops. Whalaska drops are random. Plan for volume or switch to breeding.

Build the Large Fishing Pond and automate your ore supply

Spend your first 10 Coralum Ingot on the Large Fishing Pond at Tech 69. It converts base Pals into a passive fishing income stream, which compounds every session you leave the game running.

Before your next dedicated salvage or fishing trip, condense a Jellroy and a Jelliette to max their Partner Skills. The difference in loot volume is substantial, and it costs you nothing but duplicates you were probably going to disassemble anyway.

From there, work toward Tech 78 and the Ancient Material Synthesizer so a Level 6 Mining Pal can produce Coralum Ore at base. That closes the loop: ponds and salvage feed your crafting, breeding and disassembly cover bulk demand, and the Synthesizer handles the rest.

Pocketpair announced Palworld: Side by Side on October 20, 2026 for Winter 2026, with no exact date given and no Coralum-specific changes confirmed.
