Where to Find the Huang Manor Key in Phantom Blade Zero

You do not loot the Huang Manor Key and you do not solve a puzzle for it. You obtain it from Shopkeeper Niu inside Myst's Tavern in Pangzhen, then carry it back to the locked manor door near the Huang Manor Crossroads Bell. Opening the manor gives you a Puppet-filled dungeon, all four Medicine Pot Fragments, the Manor Medicine Pot accessory, and the start of the "A Brother Once More" side quest.

That is the short version. The longer version matters because the key sits behind main story progress, and the tavern is easy to walk past if you are focused on the manor door.

This applies to Phantom Blade Zero on PS5, Steam and Epic Games Store. S-GAME's wuxia action RPG launched on October 29, 2026, so if you are stuck at this door, you are not alone.

What You Need Before You Start

  1. Main story progress past the Myst and Crane Bell cutscenes. The key comes from an NPC you only reach further along the main story, so the manor door stays locked until then.
  2. Arrival at the Huang Manor Crossroads Bell in Pangzhen, the game's fourth and largest region, with the locked manor door noted nearby.
  3. Phantom Blade Zero on PS5, Steam or Epic Games Store.
  4. No purchase is required. Speak to Shopkeeper Niu, hear him out about Huang Manor, and Soul will offer to investigate the manor; you will receive the Huang Manor Key from that conversation.

If you are still early in Pangzhen, the Phantom Blade Zero game page is a good place to orient yourself before pushing deeper into the region.

Step 1: Reach the Locked Huang Manor Door

  1. Progress the main story in Pangzhen until you arrive at the Huang Manor Crossroads Bell.
  2. The locked manor door sits nearby. Walk up and note its position.
  3. Move on. You cannot open it yet, and the key is not hiding in the surrounding alleyways.

Treat the Crossroads Bell as your anchor. Bells double as fast-travel and checkpoint points throughout Pangzhen, so you will be returning here once you have the key.

Step 2: Head West to Myst's Tavern

  1. From the locked manor door, travel west and continue through the main story.
  2. Watch the cutscenes involving Myst and the Crane Bell.
  3. Head inside once the scenes finish.

The tavern is worth a full lap. Several NPCs inside hand out quests that send you across Pangzhen and into other regions, so talk to everyone before you leave. If you are chasing side content, our Where to Find Pei in Phantom walkthrough covers another puppet-themed side quest.

Step 3: Where to Find the Huang Manor Key from Shopkeeper Niu

  1. Find Shopkeeper Niu sitting on a chair inside Myst's Tavern.
  2. Talk to him and hear him out about Huang Manor and how the maids inside turned into wooden Puppets.
  3. Accept Soul's offer to investigate the manor; you will receive the Huang Manor Key from that conversation.

The Huang Manor Key comes from this conversation with Niu. There is no drop, no chest and no hidden pickup in the manor grounds.

If the tavern is locked or Niu will not talk: keep following the main story west of the manor until the Myst and Crane Bell cutscenes have played, then head inside the tavern. Do not spend time searching the manor grounds in the meantime.

Step 4: Unlock the Manor and Clear the Puppets

  1. Fast-travel back to the Huang Manor Crossroads Bell.
  2. Use the key on the locked door.
  3. Pick up the Tainted Crystal Shard near the entrance.
  4. Take the open doorway on the left and defeat the Puppet in the first room.

Huang Manor plays as a multi-room dungeon. Puppets populate the rooms and upgrade materials are scattered throughout, so fight through rather than rushing the fragments.

Step 5: Collect All Four Medicine Pot Fragments

The manor holds all four fragments. The first, the Medicine Pot Fragment: Chain, is in the room after the initial Puppet fight.

The remaining fragments are placed specifically: the Medicine Pot Fragment: Handle is in the following room, to the right; the Fragment: Body is up the stairs past more Puppets, in the room you loot; and the Fragment: Lid is in the next room, past the Memory Flower, by turning around. The accessory is yours once the fourth fragment is in your inventory.

Combining all four yields the Manor Medicine Pot. It is a Defensive-type accessory, not a consumable, so slot it rather than drinking it. If you are collecting other restorative-related items along the way, our Phantom Blade Zero medicine locations guide covers the game's healing items separately.

Step 6: Start "A Brother Once More"

Interacting with the Memory Flower in the manor's later room starts the "A Brother Once More" quest. After collecting the Fragment: Lid, return to Shopkeeper Niu at Myst's Tavern; he will tell you more about Jin, add a new location to your map, and let you continue the quest.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Searching the manor area for the key. It comes from Shopkeeper Niu. The manor door is where you use it, not where you find it.
  • Confusing Huang Manor with the Crimson Manor. They are separate areas. The Crimson Manor is a late-game location and has nothing to do with this key.
  • Confusing the Huang Manor Key with the Puppet Tongue Key. Different keys, different locks. If you are stuck on a jail door instead, see Where to Find the Cell Key for the Outpost Courtyard.
  • Treating the Manor Medicine Pot as a healing item. It is a Defensive-type accessory.
  • Leaving after the first fragment. All four are inside the manor.

Other Locks and Quests in the Same Region

Pangzhen is dense, and Huang Manor is one of several locked-door and key quests you will hit around the same stretch of the story. If a door is not opening, check whether you are actually at the right one:

After the Manor: Finish Your Pangzhen Sweep

Pangzhen is the largest region in Phantom Blade Zero, built around Bells and tight alleyways packed with collectibles. With the Manor Medicine Pot equipped and "A Brother Once More" in your log, use the Huang Manor Crossroads Bell as a base and work outward.

Dedicated 100% Pangzhen walkthroughs from Maxroll and IGN track side quests and collectibles you likely passed on the way to Myst's Tavern. Cross-check your quest log against them before you leave the region for good.
