How to Complete Tracks of the Beast in Arc Raiders (No Combat Required)

Quick answer: Tracks of the Beast is a Pendola Pass quest from Shani that asks you to reach the destroyed Almatera Station and ping a Bully and a Skulker, all in a single incursion. You never have to damage either ARC enemy, so a stealth or recon run works: push to the Northern Tracks, head south to the station, ping both targets, extract, then turn the quest in at Speranza. The only real pressure is the one-round constraint, so plan your route before you deploy.

Tracks of the Beast arrived with the Frozen Trail update (Update 2.0), the same patch that introduced Pendola Pass, the Bully, and the Skulker. If you have not touched the new map yet, the quest is a clean introduction to its layout, and it doubles as a low-risk way to bank some early progress without gambling your loadout on a firefight.

What you need before you deploy

Get these sorted first, because a missing prerequisite means the quest will not appear on Shani's list at all.

  1. Update Arc Raiders to Frozen Trail (Update 2.0) or later. Pendola Pass, the Bully, and the Skulker only exist in this version.
  2. Complete the prerequisite quest "Exploring Pendola Pass". This unlocks Tracks of the Beast from Shani in Speranza.
  3. Select Pendola Pass as your map, ideally with a deployment that drops you near the northern edge.
  4. Bind a ping tool to a comfortable key. This is the only "weapon" the mandatory objectives require.

There is no gear score, level, or loadout requirement. Bring whatever you survive best in, and a light kit is fine since combat is optional. If you plan to also clear the side objectives, a mid-range weapon helps, but it is not mandatory.

Plan the route before you deploy

Tracks of the Beast is a single-incursion quest. Every mandatory objective must be done in one round, so do not split it across raids.

Treat "Northern Tracks" as the northernmost strip of Pendola Pass where the train tracks run. It is not a distinct labeled POI on the map, so navigate by terrain rather than by a quest marker.

Your route is straightforward:

  1. Spawn and move to the Northern Tracks at the north edge.
  2. Follow the tracks south toward the northwest corner of the map.
  3. Arrive at Almatera Station in the northwest region of the map.
  4. Ping a Bully and a Skulker.
  5. Extract and turn in at Speranza.

Mark your exfil before you leave spawn so you know which direction to break once both pings are done. Expect company too, since Pendola Pass is a live PvP map. Move along cover and avoid the open track beds when you hear gunfire.

Reach Almatera Station on the Northern Tracks

Head to the northern tip of Pendola Pass and pick up the train tracks. Follow them south, keeping the western map edge on your right. If you lose the line, open the in-game map and navigate to the Almatera Station icon in the northwest corner.

Almatera Station is the destroyed station at the end of the line, in the northwest of the map. Arriving there ticks off the objective automatically. The station is a landmark, not a pickup, so you do not need to interact with anything to register it.

If you are not sure you are in the right place, look for the ruined station structure and the dead-end tracks rather than a quest marker.

Ping a Bully (no damage needed)

The Bully is a large, loud, aggressive ARC ground unit that gallops at players. You will usually hear it before you see it.

Do not engage it. The objective only requires a ping, and pinging is instant, so a single tag is enough.

Reported spawn areas include:

  • Right around Almatera Station
  • The tracks north of Almatera
  • Old Town, in the southwest of the map
  • The Railroad Junction, to the east

Patrol routes vary between raids, so treat these as likely starting points rather than fixed spawns. If the station area is quiet, sweep the tracks north of it first, since Bully patrols frequently cross that stretch. Ping from cover or at range, then immediately reposition. A Bully that closes distance will end your run before you reach the Skulker.

Ping a Skulker (or its remains)

The Skulker is a small four-wheeled ARC turret that lies in wait, beeps, and ambushes players. Listen for the "beep beep" before you see it.

Like the Bully, you only need to ping it. No damage is required for the main quest.

Reported spawn areas include:

  • The ravine between the Railyard and the Commissary Supermarket
  • Near the Gondola exfil north of Old Town
  • The northern tracks north of Almatera Station

As with the Bully, these are commonly reported locations rather than guaranteed spawns. Here is a handy shortcut: pinging the scrap remains of an already-dead Skulker still counts, so if another player or ARC has killed one, tag the wreckage and move on.

Clear the area before pinging. Skulkers ambush from concealment, so check corners and doorways rather than walking the open middle of a lane.

Optional: destroy 3 Skulkers and deliver a Skulker Targeter

These are side objectives, not requirements. Skip them if you are chasing a fast, low-risk completion. Handle them before you extract, since they must happen in the same incursion as the pings.

To kill a Skulker efficiently, wait for its turret to pop out of the center and shoot that weak spot. Body shots waste ammo and time. Loot the wreck for a Skulker Targeter, then extract with it in your inventory.

Deliver the Targeter to Shani in Speranza alongside the main quest turn-in to close everything in one trip.

Extract and turn the quest in at Speranza

Once both pings are registered, stop sightseeing. The quest is effectively done and every extra minute is PvP risk.

  1. Head to the nearest exfil. The Gondola north of Old Town is convenient if you finished on the northern tracks.
  2. Extract with your loot intact.
  3. Back in Speranza, talk to Shani to hand in Tracks of the Beast.

If you also completed the optional tasks, turn those in at the same time. The Skulker Targeter must be extracted with you, not just looted.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Splitting the objectives across raids. The mandatory steps must all be done in one incursion. Leaving to "come back for the Skulker later" resets the run.
  • Fighting the Bully. It is loud and aggressive, but killing it is not required and usually gets you killed or draws third parties. Ping and leave.
  • Hunting a labeled "Northern Tracks" marker. It is not a distinct POI. Navigate to the northernmost tracks and follow them south.
  • Assuming you must kill a Skulker to ping it. Pinging the scrap of a dead one counts, and a live one only needs a tag.
  • Forgetting to extract the Skulker Targeter. Looting it is not enough for the optional objective. It has to leave the map with you.
  • Over-looting after the pings. The quest is done the moment both tags register, and every extra container is a chance to get ambushed on the way out.
  • Heading the wrong way from the station. Almatera sits in the northwest of Pendola Pass, so use the map edge to orient yourself rather than guessing.

Next steps: the rest of Pendola Pass

With Tracks of the Beast done, check Shani's quest list for the other Frozen Trail objectives that chain off Pendola Pass. You now know the terrain, so it is a good time to farm the landmarks you passed through, including the Commissary Supermarket, the Railyard, and the observatory. Practise Skulker weak-spot kills on the ravine and Gondola spawns so the optional objectives become routine on future runs.
