Arc Raiders 'Clean Hands' Quest Walkthrough: Find the Nomad Camp, Grab the Equatorial Sundial, and Deliver It to the Nomadic Envoy

Quick answer

'Clean Hands' is a four-step quest on the Pendola Pass map, added in the Frozen Trail 2.0 update. You find the nomad camp beneath the Railyard, pick up the Equatorial Sundial from a yellow bag beside a barrel, carry it to the top of the Old Town church and hold it up facing east, then extract and hand it to the Nomadic Envoy in Speranza. All four steps must be done in order, in a single raid. You cannot split it across multiple runs. Rewards are 5,000 XP, a shield recharger, a sextant, and a battered paperback.

What you need before you deploy

Get these sorted first, because the quest punishes sloppy preparation with a full reset.

  • Arc Raiders updated to Frozen Trail 2.0 or later. Pendola Pass and the quest do not exist in earlier versions.
  • Access to Pendola Pass as a selectable map, plus the 'Clean Hands' quest accepted from the Nomadic Envoys (Cassio, the Nomadic Trader) in Speranza before you deploy.
  • A free inventory slot for the Equatorial Sundial. It is a quest item you carry, so do not fill every slot before you leave.
  • Enough time for one uninterrupted round. The quest is strictly in-order and single-round, so a death or an early extraction resets your progress.
  • A squad or at least a plan for the gondola extraction, since the Pendola Pass gondola tube seats only three Raiders.

One note on sourcing: the Arc Raiders wiki describes 'Clean Hands' as the first Nomad-given quest a Raider can complete. Treat that as community-sourced rather than developer-confirmed.

Step 1: Reach the nomad camp under the Railyard

Head to the southwestern side of the Railyard, near where the trains go underground. There are two known entry routes:

  1. The large drainage pipes in the southwestern corner.
  2. The ground-floor depot.

Both lead to the same camp. Once inside, climb up. The camp itself sits on elevated catwalks, so look for ladders, ramps, and catwalk spans rather than searching at floor level. If you came in through the depot, follow the path around and west rather than doubling back to the surface.

If you are standing on the depot floor with no ladders or ramps in sight, you are in the wrong place. Follow your quest marker until the objective points upward, then climb.

Step 2: Search the Equatorial Sundial

The sundial is the quest's "polluted item" and sits in the central camp area. Look for a yellow bag beside a barrel. Sources describe the barrel as green or warped, so check both.

The two most-cited community write-ups disagree on the exact placement. TheGamer places it at a catwalk cross-section near two large crates covered with blue tarps, with a yellow duffle bag next to the warped barrel. Polygon places it in the very center of the room. Treat these as two spots to check in sequence rather than one confirmed location: scan the middle of the camp first, then work outward to the blue-tarped crates at the nearest catwalk crossing.

Interact to pick it up, then confirm it is in your inventory before moving on. Losing it mid-raid means restarting the quest.

Step 3: Carry the sundial to the top of the Old Town church

Old Town is on the far west of Pendola Pass. Do not confuse it with the Old Hamlet to the south, which is the wrong location.

The church is the tallest spire in the Old Town cluster; follow the quest marker if the silhouette is not obvious from your approach. Get inside and take the interior zipline up toward the top of the spire. At the top, hold the sundial up facing east to trigger the objective. If the prompt does not appear, check that you are facing east rather than simply standing at the highest point.

Pendola Pass is built around a fallen Emperor ARC machine with heavy verticality, so expect climbing and ziplines rather than a flat run. Budget time for the ascent.

Step 4: Extract from Pendola Pass and deliver to the Nomadic Envoy

Pendola Pass extraction is unique. Call a gondola using a radio beacon, then board the large orange gondola tube.

The gondola holds only three Raiders, so if you are in a larger group, plan who boards and when.

Back in Speranza, hand the Equatorial Sundial to the Nomadic Envoy (Cassio, the Nomadic Trader). Cassio stands at the Nomadic Envoy stall in the main hub area; interact with him to open the trade menu, then select the quest hand-in option to close 'Clean Hands'.

Collect your rewards: 5,000 XP, a shield recharger, a sextant, and a battered paperback. Treat the reward list as community-sourced, as it has not been confirmed by the developer.

Common mistakes that cost you a run

Mistake Why it hurts Fix
Splitting the quest across raids Steps are in-order and single-round only Finish all four before extracting
Searching the Old Hamlet The church is in Old Town, far west Check your map before heading south
Hunting the sundial at ground level The camp is on elevated catwalks Climb first, search the catwalk level
Filling every inventory slot The sundial is a carried quest item Leave one slot open
Forgetting the gondola No standard extraction exists on Pendola Pass Call it with a radio beacon
Assuming a full squad can board The gondola seats three Raiders Assign boarding order in advance

If you fail

On death or an early extraction, the Equatorial Sundial despawns with the raid and any steps you completed are cleared. Re-accept 'Clean Hands' from Cassio in Speranza if it is not already active in your quest log, then redeploy to Pendola Pass and run all four steps from the beginning. Partial progress does not carry over between raids.

Chain the rest of the Frozen Trail quest line

'Clean Hands' is one of 22 quests added in Frozen Trail 2.0, a figure reported by community trackers rather than confirmed by the developer. Use it as your guided tour of Pendola Pass before pushing into the rest of the update.

The update also added new enemies (Bully, Skulker, Hydra) and new weapons (Bantam and Stiletto). Learn the Pendola Pass layout now and those fights get easier.

Keep trading with Cassio. The Nomadic Envoys brought him in to replace Ermal on the trail, and he takes valuables as well as handing out quests.

Frozen Trail launched alongside a promotional event, so check current store listings for any active bundles or free-access windows before buying in.
