Best Han 86 Build in Modern Warfare 4 After the October 28 Update

The best Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Han 86 build post the October 28, 2026 tuning pass is a recoil-and-handling setup: SA H86 465mm barrel, XRK Mil-Tac Suppressor, XRK Clutch-LS laser, ZLR Type C optic and XRK Justice II rear grip. Note that this five-attachment set is CODMunity's Versatile build (last updated 28/10/2026); Polygon's own recommended build instead runs Hanbit RK8 406mm, XRK Clutch-LS, FSS Fireline Grip, VLK Trimmer and Meiko L9P-Fold.

That patch gave the Han 86 a mix of improvements and reductions, so any build saved before October 28 needs a short re-test rather than a full rebuild. The rifle remains a strong close-to-mid-range assault rifle and is the easiest weapon in the game to level, since it sits on nearly every basic DMZ soldier.

What You Need Before You Start

  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC or Nintendo Switch 2. The game launched October 23, 2026 with no last-gen version. After 13 Years, Call of Duty returned to Nintendo hardware with this release after more than a decade.
  • Player Level 4 to unlock the Han 86 in multiplayer. No challenge required.
  • Weapon XP for the attachment levels below.
  • The full 72 weapon levels if you want the Han X20 Skybreaker Apex Attachment. Both figures come from mw4meta's Han 86 page.
  • Some patience with patch churn. Season 1 arrives November 6, 2026 with new weapons and attachments.

Attachment Slot Unlock Level Key Effect
XRK Clutch-LS Laser 3 ADS speed, no visible laser in ADS
XRK Justice II Grip Rear Grip 14 Offsets handling loss
ZLR Type C Optic 27 Clean sight picture
XRK Mil-Tac Suppressor Muzzle 44 Hides position, ADS speed
SA H86 465mm Barrel 68 Cuts recoil, extends range
Han X20 Skybreaker Apex Attachment 72 (full) Endgame upgrade

Unlock levels are from games.gg's Han 86 guide; check them against the in-game Gunsmith.

Base stats worth knowing: 741 RPM and a 30-round magazine, per the in-game stat sheet, across 72 weapon levels. According to Sportskeeda's Han 86 guide, the rifle is modelled on the real-life Daewoo K2.

Step 1: Unlock the Han 86 and Bank Weapon XP

  1. Reach Player Level 4 in multiplayer. The Han 86 is the first AR you get and needs no separate challenge.
  2. Level it fast in DMZ. The rifle appears on practically every basic soldier, so you can pick one up in the field without spending a Weapon Manual.
  3. Do not buy a DMZ-customised copy early. Building one in-mode can cost a lot of DMZ Cash before you know which attachments you actually want.

If you are new to the mode, How to Find and Clear Compounds covers the fights where a picked-up Han 86 earns its keep.

Step 2: Install the Core Recoil-Control Attachments

  1. Barrel: SA H86 465mm. The anchor of the build. It cuts horizontal and vertical recoil while extending effective range and bullet velocity. Do not drop it to chase mobility.
  2. Muzzle: XRK Mil-Tac Suppressor. Hides your position and helps ADS speed and ADS-out speed.
  3. Laser: XRK Clutch-LS. An ADS-speed boost with no visible laser in ADS, so it does not give your angle away.

That trio is what keeps the Han 86 flat inside its natural close-to-mid-range sweet spot. Stacking more recoil attachments on top pushes the gun toward sniper handling, which is not what it is for. If you want the FSS Fireline Grip's extra ADS recoil control, start from Polygon's five-attachment build instead, which runs it without a rear grip or optic.

Step 3: Round Out the Build With Grip and Optic

  • Rear grip: XRK Justice II Grip. Offsets the handling loss from the barrel without badly hurting recoil control.
  • Optic: ZLR Type C. A clean sight picture over the Han 86's restrictive default iron sights.

Enter build code A03-B176X-GJUQ1-1 to apply the set instantly. CODMunity lists this code for its Versatile build, last updated 28/10/2026; confirm each slot in the Gunsmith before you take it into a match. If the code fails to load, build the five attachments manually from the table above, it takes under a minute.

Step 4: Run the Post-Patch Re-Test

The October 28, 2026 update was MW4's first broad weapon-tuning pass five days after launch: 9 weapons buffed and 4 nerfed, with the Han 86 receiving both improvements and reductions. Run this test rather than trusting memory:

  1. Load a private match on any map with a flat wall, or use the Firing Range, and stand 20 metres from the surface.
  2. Empty one full magazine into the wall without touching the right stick, and note the shape of the pattern: how far it climbs vertically and how far it drifts horizontally.
  3. Compare against a pre-patch clip if you have one. If vertical climb is worse, swap the barrel first. If horizontal drift is worse, swap the muzzle first.
  4. Change one slot at a time and repeat the magazine. Passing means you can hold the pattern on a torso-sized target at 20 metres for a full magazine.

The same patch buffed the M4, VEL 46 and ISO Nightshade, so the competition around the Han 86 moved too. Re-check your class against those before assuming the old build still wins. The patch also nerfed the Quick Fix perk and fixed challenges, killstreaks, DMZ loadout and exfil issues, and exploits, so check those fixes before blaming your attachments.

Mobility Variant: For Players Who Push Fast

MW4 multiplayer is still fast, and the Han 86 can be tuned to slide and jump with it.

  • Replace the XRK Justice II Grip with the Meiko L9P-Fold stock for a large movement-speed bonus when repositioning matters more than a hair of ADS speed.
  • IGN's build code, A03-6AL6S-S2N11, runs XRK Clutch-LS, FSS IS300 heavy silencer, FSS Fireline Grip, XRK Justice II Grip and Meiko L9P-Fold, a separate build that adds the stock's movement bonus. Check every slot after loading.
  • If you want a reticle, expect to drop an attachment. Most players sacrifice the rear grip.
  • Avoid the FR4 Retractable Stock unless you accept worse ADS recoil control.

DMZ Variant: For Sustained Fights

DMZ is a paid extraction mode with a persistent stash, so a death costs your kit in a way a 6v6 respawn never does.

  1. Prioritise recoil control, faster ADS and a 60-round magazine. DMZ fights and exfils run longer than multiplayer engagements.
  2. Keep the suppressor. Staying off the map matters more when a death costs your kit.
  3. Treat the DMZ build as separate from your multiplayer class and rebuild it after each tuning pass.

If Something Goes Wrong

  • Build code will not load: enter the five attachments manually from the table. Codes can break after a tuning pass.
  • An attachment is still locked: check its level in the table and bank Weapon XP in DMZ, where picking up a Han 86 from a downed soldier costs nothing.
  • You lost your DMZ kit on death: re-add the 60-round magazine before anything else when you rebuild.
  • The re-test shows the build got worse: revert to the pre-patch class, then change one slot at a time until the pattern tightens. Do not rebuild the whole gun at once.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Copying a pre-patch build without re-testing. The Han 86 was already retuned twice in the August beta, on August 24 and August 28, before the October 28 pass, which Infinity Ward described as the game's first major weapon-balancing update.
  • Stacking recoil attachments until the gun handles like a sniper. The Han 86 is a close-to-mid-range AR, not a long-range one.
  • Taking a visible ADS laser for the sprint-to-fire bonus, then wondering why every pre-aim gets challenged.
  • Assuming the Han 86 is the undisputed number one. Trackers disagree on its standing: one tracker ranks it #10 of 39 at 10-25 m on total TTK (864 ms), while another puts it in A tier because 4 of 6 creators on its Multiplayer Meta built it.
  • Using your multiplayer class in DMZ and running dry mid-fight without a 60-round magazine.

Preparing for Season 1 on November 6

Season 1 lands November 6, 2026 and adds new weapons and attachments, which will likely shift the meta again. Set yourself up now.

  • Bank weapon XP and unlock the remaining Han 86 attachments so new Season 1 options slot in without a grind. If you want the Han X20 Skybreaker Apex Attachment, that means all 72 weapon levels.
  • Keep a second AR class ready from the buffed M4 or ISO Nightshade in case the meta swings further.
  • Re-check the official patch notes after each update and date-stamp your build. This one reflects the October 28, 2026 tuning.

For news, guides and community discussion around the game, the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 hub is the place to start. If you want the wider picture on how this entry landed, the Call of Duty campaign review covers the Korea-set story.

The Han 86 is still the rifle to learn the game on. Build it flat, re-test it after every patch, and keep the mobility variant saved for maps that punish a slow rifle.
