How to Find a Dynamic Op Phone in Modern Warfare 4 DMZ (and Complete the Op)

Quick Answer

A dynamic op phone in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 DMZ is not a hidden collectible you pick up. It is the in-world phone that starts a Dynamic Operation, and it appears on your Tac-Map as a small green phone or handheld radio icon. Deploy via Free Roam (the third deploy option) so no mission is pre-assigned, open the Tac-Map, and look for the green icons. Cheongun Village in the northwest of the South Korea portion of Hajin is the order-specified area. Activate the phone, then finish the entire operation it starts. Activating the phone alone will not clear the "Payment Due" order.

What You Need Before You Start

  • Access to DMZ mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 (available on current PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms).
  • The order that requires the phone active in your log. This is listed as "Payment Due" in the second stage of the "Human Intel" chapter. Some guides refer to it as "Operation Rewards" on Orders Page 4, so check your in-game order text if you cannot find "Payment Due" by that name.
  • No Dynamic Operation currently active. You cannot start a new one until the current op is finished or abandoned.
  • A deploy screen where Free Roam is available.
  • A loadout built to survive an extended field op. Dynamic Ops only pay out on completion, and the payout is $10,000 to $20,000 Cash plus a Supply Drop.

Step 1: Deploy via Free Roam

On the deploy screen, select Free Roam, the third deployment type, instead of Story Missions or a pre-selected Dynamic Operation.

Free Roam drops you in with no mission assigned, which is exactly what this order requires. If you deploy with a mission by mistake, finish or abandon it before you go hunting for a phone. The deploy screen offers three types: Story Missions, Dynamic Operations, and Free Roam. Only Free Roam starts you clean.

Step 2: Read the Tac-Map for Green Phone Icons

Open your Tac-Map and scan for small green icons shaped like phones or handheld radios. Those are the dynamic op phones.

Zoom in on the map. A sub-icon appears that tells you which operation each phone starts. This lets you pick an op that suits your loadout and squad size before you commit.

Locations randomize every match, so do not rely on a single fixed spot from a video or guide. There are many markers scattered across Hajin, so you are rarely far from one.

For the "Payment Due" order specifically, prioritize the Cheongun Village cluster covered in Step 3. Other phones work for general farming, but they may not register order progress if the order is location-gated.

Step 3: Head to Cheongun Village for the Order

The "Payment Due" order text points you to Cheongun Village, in the northwest corner of the South Korea portion of Hajin, near the casino and hospital.

One community-reported reference point is around x: 2106, y: 2015. Treat it as a rough heading only, since spawns randomize every match.

Any dynamic op phone on the map will start an operation, but Cheongun is the safe, order-specified bet. Going elsewhere risks the order not registering progress if it is location-gated.

Step 4: Ping the Marker and Follow the Beeping

Use your ping or mark control (check your control bindings) on the green icon so your squad and your HUD can track it while you move.

As you close in, listen for the phone's distinct beeping sound. The audio cue will lead you to the physical phone.

Phones sit on surfaces like office desks and shelves. Watch for the ACTIVATE prompt when you are close enough. One known spawn is on a shelf in a parking basement in Cheongun Village, but that is one possible location among many, not a fixed one.

Step 5: Activate the Phone and Read the Op Name

Walk up to the phone and use the ACTIVATE prompt. It displays the name of the operation you are starting.

The op attached to each phone is randomized per deployment, so do not expect the same mission every run.

If a keypad code comes up mid-op, the code is printed in the objective step name itself, for example "Use Code 8349 to Unlock Keypad." That code is random per match, so published codes from guides and videos will not work. Read it from your own objective text.

Step 6: Complete the Operation to Clear the Order

Activating the phone is only step one. You must finish the dynamic op for "Payment Due" to progress.

The order's follow-up step requires 11,500 Cash earned from the dynamic operation. The op's completion payout of $10,000 to $20,000 satisfies this, so finishing the op clears the step. On completion you also receive the Cash deposited to your Bank plus a Supply Drop of increasing rarity.

If you leave or fail the op, the first step of the order must be redone. To recover cleanly, return to the deploy screen, confirm no op is active, redeploy via Free Roam, and repeat from Step 2.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Treating the phone as a collectible. You do not pick it up into your inventory. You activate it to start an op, and the order only completes when the op is finished.
  • Deploying with a mission already active. You cannot start a new dynamic op until the current one is done, so always use Free Roam for this order.
  • Searching for one fixed spawn. Phone locations and their attached ops randomize every match. A spot from a guide may be empty in your run.
  • Activating and walking away. Abandoning the op resets the order step.
  • Using a published keypad code. Codes are random per match. Read the code from your objective step name instead.
  • Skipping Cheongun Village. While any phone works, the order specifies Cheongun. Going elsewhere risks not registering progress.

Turning Dynamic Ops Into a Cash Engine

Once "Payment Due" is cleared, keep farming Dynamic Ops in Free Roam. Each one pays $10,000 to $20,000 to your Bank plus a Supply Drop, which makes them one of DMZ's most reliable income loops.

Learn to identify op types from the Tac-Map sub-icons so you can pick operations that match your loadout and squad size. Then chain them efficiently: finish one, immediately scan the map for the next green phone, and keep the loop running rather than extracting after a single payout.

The phone itself is never the hard part. The discipline is: deploy clean, read the map, activate, and finish what you start.
