Nintendo and Intelligent Systems announced the Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave Expansion Pass on 15 October 2026, laying out three waves of content running into 2027. Now, a Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave datamine points to unused characters, additional story routes and items that Nintendo has never mentioned, and the findings have travelled from a community researcher's notes to a full Polygon report published on 3 November 2026.

None of it is official. That caveat matters more than any single name in the files, and it is the frame for everything below.

How the Leak Happened

The trail starts with version 1.1.0, the update that shipped alongside the Expansion Pass and, per Nintendo's patch notes, added support for the DLC.

The other half of the equation is hardware. According to reports, new methods for extracting data from Switch 2 software emerged after the console was jailbroken. On 26 October 2026, community researcher Aveyn_Knight shared datamined findings, which were rounded up by Lerkpots and subsequently covered by outlets including Nintendo Everything and Twisted Voxel. Polygon's report followed on 3 November 2026.

Community trackers such as fortunesweave.co.uk apply a stricter standard than most leak coverage, labelling each entry as confirmed, unconfirmed or debunked and warning that datamined material can be a draft, a leftover or cut content that may never ship. That is the correct posture here.

What the Files Point To

The most concrete new detail is a set of additional playable characters beyond the announced Wave 2 trio. One aggregator has put the figure at seven unannounced characters, a number not corroborated by the more detailed write-ups and best treated as an attributed claim rather than established fact.

The datamine also points to extra story routes, an unused Diadem item and a possible Maddening difficulty mode.

Against that sits the official roadmap, which remains the only confirmed plan. Wave 2 arrives in Holiday 2026 and adds outfits plus three allies: Aurora, Smyrnos and Jurah. Wave 3 follows in 2027 with new story content.

The Most-Discussed Finds

Discussion has centred on Talimun, a playable character in the base game who, according to community wiki listings, serves as captain of the Tale of the Moon and possesses a Diadem. No source in our reporting confirms unused or shirtless sprite data for Talimun; the only datamine details we can attribute are that he is a playable character, captain of the Tale of the Moon, and possesses a Diadem.

The second name doing the rounds is Bertrand. Fans speculate that he was one of four cut Flame Lord routes, a theory consistent with reporting citing Nintendo's Ask the Developer Vol. 23 interview (published 15 September 2026) that the game was originally conceived around eight protagonists before being scaled back to four.

There are two competing readings of the leaked material, and neither can be proven from the files alone. The characters and routes may be future DLC, plausibly tied to Wave 3's story content. They may equally be cut base-game content left dormant in the code. If the Bertrand theory holds, the Expansion Pass would represent a path to restoring content that was once cut - a notable arc for a game that shipped with four routes and now has DLC framed as extending into 2027. Both explanations fit the evidence; neither is confirmed.

One point of caution: Polygon's report refers to a "shocking pick" among the leaked characters, but the identity behind that phrase is not spelled out in available excerpts. Until the piece is verified directly, no character should be named as the shock reveal.

What Nintendo Has Said, and What It Means for Players

Nothing. Nintendo has not confirmed any leaked character, and no primary statement addresses the datamine at all.

Practically, that leaves Aurora, Smyrnos and Jurah as the only new allies players can count on, and Wave 3's 2027 story content as the only confirmed route expansion. Everything else stays in the files until Nintendo says otherwise.

For reference, the Expansion Pass costs $34.99, per Nintendo's announcement of 15 October 2026.

Signal, Noise and the Long Wait to 2027

The datamine offers a look at where Fortune's Weave could go next year, and the fact that it lines up so neatly with the Expansion Pass structure is what makes it worth discussing at all. It is also entirely unofficial, assembled from files that could be drafts, leftovers or abandoned experiments.

The sensible approach is the one the community trackers have already adopted: treat confirmed, unconfirmed and debunked as three distinct states, and place every leaked name in the middle category until Nintendo moves it.

We will update this story if Nintendo responds to the datamine or clarifies any of the leaked material.
