How to Make Gold in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave: Paralogues, Node Farming, and Route Bonuses

Quick answer

Clear every Part 1 paralogue you can, each one pays roughly 20,000 gold, the single biggest guaranteed injection in the game. For repeatable income, farm Blight Louses at animal-pack nodes for insect pearls (about 300G) and large insect pearls (about 1,500G), and search purse-icon nodes at abandoned temples and fortresses for coins. Your Flame Lord choice doubles as a money strategy: Cai, Leda, and Theodora each get a route-exclusive income engine, while Dietrich relies on the universal methods. Finally, barter materials at the Vandhal Trading Co. and spend Karma Shards on Boons of Salvation discounts so you keep more of what you earn.

What you need before you start

  • Platform: Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive. No previous Fire Emblem save data required.
  • Progress: Access to the world map and at least Part 1 of the campaign. Paralogues, nodes, and dungeons all unlock through normal story progress.
  • Route awareness: You must have chosen a Flame Lord, Cai, Theodora, Leda, or Dietrich, since each route changes which passive income methods exist for you.
  • Battalions: At least one spare battalion you can park in a node. This is required for the Theodora node-farming trick and useful for bulk material gathering on any route.
  • Karma Shards: Needed to unlock Boons of Salvation. Collect them through normal play before expecting the discounts.

All specific gold values below are approximate figures reported by Polygon's launch coverage and are not confirmed on Nintendo's official pages. Treat them as close estimates and verify in-game.

Bank every Part 1 paralogue first

Paralogue missions in Part 1 reward roughly 20,000 gold each. That is the largest guaranteed payout in the game and the fastest way to fund a full army refit.

  1. Open the world map between story chapters.
  2. Look for paralogue nodes, these are marked with a distinct side-mission icon separate from main story chapters, and each is labeled with its part number. If the label reads "Part 1," it pays the full 20,000G.
  3. Select the paralogue node and choose Sortie to enter the battle.
  4. Complete the map objective. The gold is awarded automatically on the results screen.
  5. Prioritise paralogues over optional skirmishes whenever both are available. No repeatable farm comes close to 20,000G per clear.
  6. Do paralogues as soon as they appear rather than saving them. The gold compounds into better gear, which makes later paralogues and story maps easier.

Check the world map regularly between story chapters. Paralogues can appear and expire based on chapter progress, so a node you skip in one chapter may be gone in the next.

If you are still early in the campaign and weighing which Flame Lord to lock in first, the payouts above are route-agnostic, so they are worth banking regardless of your pick.

Farm Blight Louses at animal-pack nodes

Animal-pack nodes spawn Blight Louses, which drop insect pearls (sell for roughly 300G) or large insect pearls (sell for roughly 1,500G). This is the best repeatable per-node payout in the game. A single large pearl is worth more than 40 small coins (each coin sells for roughly 30G).

Here is the full farm loop:

  1. Open the world map.
  2. Select a node marked with the paw-print icon. These appear in forest and plains regions and are distinguishable from story, paralogue, and purse nodes by their animal-track symbol.
  3. Choose Sortie to enter the encounter.
  4. Deploy two to three units with high movement. Flying units are ideal for reaching Louse tiles quickly.
  5. Move a unit onto the Louse enemy's tile and select Attack. Defeat the Louse in combat.
  6. After combat, open the Items menu and confirm the pearl drop. Pearls go directly into your convoy.
  7. Kill any remaining Louses before clearing the node objective if the map lets you linger. The drops are the point, not the completion reward.
  8. Return to the world map. The node respawns after you advance the story by one chapter, so revisit it each chapter for a steady income stream.

Search purse nodes and park a battalion on Theodora's route

Purse-icon nodes appear at abandoned temples and fortresses and can be searched for coins (roughly 30G) and large coins (roughly 1,200G), plus crates.

  1. Open the world map and select a node with the purse icon. These are found at temple and fortress locations.
  2. Choose Sortie, then select the Search command from the map menu once inside.
  3. Search each searchable tile. You will collect coins, large coins, and crates directly into your convoy.
  4. On Theodora's path, you can leave a battalion stationed in a purse node for passive income. To do this: enter the purse node, open the Camp menu, select Battalion, choose Station, and confirm. The battalion must not be assigned to an active unit. Stationing costs nothing, and the node pays out coins each time you complete a story chapter.
  5. Even without Theodora, sweep every purse node you pass. Large coins alone justify the detour.
  6. Combine purse nodes with dungeon runs. Dungeons supply ores and rare loot, so one trip feeds both your gold and your barter stock.

Barter materials at the Vandhal Trading Co.

The Vandhal Trading Co. (sometimes spelled "Vandahl Trading Company") is a barter economy, not a gold shop. Merchants want materials, not coin.

Linaria are a common herb you gather from green gathering tiles on forest maps and from Cai's vegetable-planting ability. You will accumulate them naturally through normal play.

Example exchange: six linaria gets you an iron sword worth roughly 1,500G, which you can either keep or sell for roughly 300G.

Trade option What you give What you get Gold outcome
Barter for gear Six linaria (gathered free) Iron sword (1,500G value) Keep for free equipment, best value
Barter then sell Six linaria (gathered free) Iron sword, sold for 300G 300G cash, worse than keeping
Sell materials raw Six linaria Nothing at this merchant No gold, worst outcome

Rule of thumb: if the item's sell value beats what the materials would otherwise earn you, take the trade. If you need the gear, keep it and save the gold entirely. In practice, bartering for gear you will actually use is almost always the right call.

Hoard ores from dungeons, node resources, and rare vegetables. In Part 1, materials are the real currency, and Cai's or Theodora's routes generate them fastest. You can also offload surplus fish and vegetables to the traveling merchant for rare goods when your stockpile outgrows your needs.

Pick your Flame Lord with the economy in mind

Your route choice is a money strategy, not just a story preference. The four Flame Lords have parallel storylines you can play in any order, so a later playthrough on an economy-focused route is a legitimate way to bankroll a full campaign.

Flame Lord Income engine Best for
Cai Plants vegetables on certain map tiles that grow after a few turns, then trades the harvest at the Vandhal Trading Co. for weapons and accessories. Also has Kindness Quests rewarding money and renown. A self-sustaining material-to-gear pipeline
Leda Performs at local taverns for direct gold and reveals secret spots containing rare, valuable resources. Raw cash and rare-material access
Theodora Her retinue boosts resources gained from searching nodes, and she can park battalions in purse nodes for repeated coin collection. Idle and passive farming
Dietrich His overworld ability locates enemies on the world map. This is a combat tool, not an economy one. Combat utility; lean on universal gold methods

If you pick Dietrich, plan around the three sections that do apply to you: Bank every Part 1 paralogue first, Farm Blight Louses at animal-pack nodes, and Search purse nodes (the large coins are still available even without Theodora's battalion trick). He has no dedicated gold engine, so the universal methods carry his route.

Cut spending with Boons of Salvation

Boons of Salvation are unlocked with Karma Shards and include Weapons Discount, Blacksmith Discount, Carriage Discount, Meals Discount, and Gifts Discount.

To unlock a Boon:

  1. Open the Camp menu from the world map.
  2. Select the Boons tab.
  3. Choose the discount you want (for example, Blacksmith Discount).
  4. Confirm the Karma Shard cost. Costs vary by Boon, starting at a small number of shards for basic discounts and scaling for higher-tier ones.
  5. Unlock the discounts that match your actual spending. If you forge constantly, take Blacksmith first. If you travel and feed your army, take Carriage and Meals.
  6. Do not hoard Karma Shards "for later." The campaign runs 140+ hours across three parts, so early discounts compound over dozens of hours.
  7. Treat a discount as worth as much as a farm. Blacksmith forging and repairs are a major gold sink, so the Blacksmith Discount pays for itself quickly.

Common mistakes that drain your wallet

  • Selling materials for gold instead of bartering them. The Vandhal Trading Co. converts materials into gear worth far more than the raw materials would fetch. Check the trade before you liquidate.
  • Skipping paralogues because they look optional. At 20,000G each, they are the single best gold-per-hour activity in Part 1 and cannot be replicated by farming.
  • Ignoring purse nodes on non-Theodora routes. You lose the passive battalion trick, but the large coins (1,200G) are still there for the taking.
  • Assuming Dietrich has a gold engine. He does not. Plan his route around universal methods only.
  • Buying gear you can barter for. Every weapon purchased with gold is gold you did not need to spend if the right materials were in your convoy.

If it's not working

  • Node not respawning: Animal-pack and purse nodes refresh after you advance the story by one chapter. If a node is still cleared, progress the main story and check again.
  • Paralogue expired: Paralogue nodes can disappear if you advance too far without clearing them. Check the world map after every story chapter and clear paralogues immediately.
  • Battalion won't station: Make sure the battalion is not assigned to an active unit and that you are inside a purse node, not on the world map. The Station command only appears in the Camp menu during a node encounter.
  • Karma Shards insufficient: Karma Shards come from story progression and side objectives. If you cannot afford a Boon, continue the main story and revisit the Boons tab later.

Plan your route order around your gold strategy

Decide whether you want Cai's material pipeline, Leda's tavern cash, or Theodora's passive node income before you lock in your first route, then play the others in whatever order suits your army. Spend Karma Shards on Boons of Salvation as soon as you have enough for your highest-spend category, and revisit the list each part as new discounts become relevant.

Keep a standing checklist each chapter: paralogues available? Animal-pack nodes respawned? Purse nodes searched? Battalions parked? Materials banked for the next Vandhal trade? Run that loop and the Fortune's Weave economy stops being a constraint and starts being a resource you steer.
