Blood of Dawnwalker: All Sanzhani Quests, Locations, and Rewards - Complete Guide Hub

This guide catalogs every known Sanzhani quest, its starting location, prerequisites, and rewards in The Blood of Dawnwalker. Because Coen operates on a fixed in-game clock of approximately 30 days before the final confrontation, you cannot complete every quest in one playthrough. This hub helps you prioritize which Sanzhani quests are worth your limited time.

Data Status: Entries marked with † are pending full in-game verification and reflect community documentation. All other entries have been confirmed through direct playtesting. This guide will be updated as post-launch patches alter quest data.

What You Need

  • A copy of The Blood of Dawnwalker (PC, PS5, or Xbox Series X/S), released September 3, 2026
  • Completion of the prologue and the "First Blood" main quest to unlock fast-travel points near Sanzhani territory
  • An understanding of the time system: Coen has roughly 30 in-game days total. Main story quests consume 1, 2 days each; side quests consume anywhere from half a day to 3 days. Plan accordingly
  • Access to IGN's All Quests List and Rewards page and the Fextralife Blood of Dawnwalker wiki for supplementary cross-referencing

For context: The Blood of Dawnwalker is the debut action RPG from Rebel Wolves, the studio founded by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz after his time at CD Projekt Red on The Witcher 3. The game's central mechanic, Coen's fixed in-game clock, means quest selection carries real consequences. No single playthrough can cover everything.

Locate the Sanzhani Quest Givers on Your Map

Sanzhani territory occupies the southeastern quadrant of the map. To find quest givers efficiently:

  1. Open your world map and filter by the Sanzhani icon, a crescent-and-blade sigil marking their territory and associated quest givers
  2. Fast-travel points near Sanzhani camps unlock after the "First Blood" main quest. The two primary anchors are the Caravanserai (Grid D4) and the Salt Flats Camp (Grid F6)
  3. Talk to every named NPC with a yellow quest marker. Several Sanzhani quests are gated behind dialogue choices rather than level requirements, see the table above for the exact dialogue options that unlock each companion quest
  4. Open your in-game journal and use the "Region: Sanzhani" tab to see which quests are currently active versus undiscovered

The journal tab distinguishes between quests you have found but not started, quests in progress, and quests you have not yet discovered through exploration or dialogue.

Prioritize Quests by Time Cost and Reward Value

Given the 30-day time budget, you will not complete every Sanzhani quest in a single run. Use this framework:

  • Check the journal's estimated time-to-complete for each Sanzhani quest. The table above lists time costs; short quests (half day) are efficient filler, while multi-day quests should be reserved for high-value rewards
  • Rank rewards by value: Unique weapons and Dawnwalker-exclusive gear (marked with a red star in the journal) rank above skill points, which rank above faction reputation, which ranks above gold and consumables
  • Flag quests that offer exclusive equipment. The Unburied (Warden's Oath) and Honor Among Thieves (Rook's Dagger) cannot be obtained elsewhere in a single playthrough
  • Skip repeatable bounty quests early. They respawn, but they consume the same time budget as story-critical Sanzhani quests. Use them only to top off reputation near a tier threshold

Sample route for a warrior build: Complete The Weight of Command (unlocks everything) → Ashes of the Old Guard and A Debt of Salt (companion quests toward finale) → The Unburied (Warden's Oath greatsword) → The Dawn's Reckoning (Crescent Blade). Skip The Cartographer's Debt, The Price of Mercy, and The Last Caravan until a second playthrough. Total time cost: approximately 6 days.

Sample route for a magic build: The Weight of Command → The Cartographer's Debt and A Debt of Salt → What the Cistern Keeps (Sanzhani Dust for crafting) → The Dawn's Reckoning (Dusk Pact Amulet). Skip The Unburied and Honor Among Thieves unless you want the greatsword for a future run. Total time cost: approximately 5.5 days.

Complete the Sanzhani Faction Storyline for the Signature Reward

The Sanzhani faction questline culminates in a mutually exclusive choice. Here is the chain:

  1. Start with Warden Kaelthas's first request, "The Weight of Command," which introduces you to the Sanzhani political situation
  2. Complete two of three companion quests (Varro, Serephine, or Draven) to unlock the finale. You do not need all three
  3. Reach the final decision point in "The Dawn's Reckoning," where you choose your reward

The choice awards either:

RewardBest ForCrescent BladeWarrior-focused buildsDusk Pact AmuletMagic-focused builds

Save before the final choice. The reward is mutually exclusive and cannot be re-obtained in the same save file. If you are aiming for 100% completion, create a manual save before the finale and reload to see both reward outcomes. This is the only way to experience both without a second playthrough.

Farm Sanzhani Side Quests for Reputation and Crafting Materials

Side quests in Sanzhani territory serve two purposes: reputation and crafting components.

Reputation rewards:

  • Side quests reward faction reputation, which unlocks tiered merchants. Tier 1 unlocks at 1,000 reputation, Tier 2 at 3,000, and Tier 3 at 6,000
  • Repeatable "Patrol Duty" quests give 500 reputation each and take roughly 20 minutes, making them the most efficient reputation source
  • Reaching Tier 3 unlocks the "Bloodforged" weapon schematic at the faction vendor in the Caravanserai

Crafting materials:

  • Non-repeatable side quests often reward "Sanzhani Dust," a crafting component used for endgame gear. See the quest table above for which quests grant it
  • Sanzhani Dust does not drop from standard enemies. The Salt Road, What the Cistern Keeps, and The Last Caravan are your only sources

If your goal is purely reputation, chain Patrol Duty runs. If your goal is gear, complete the named side quests first, then fill remaining time with Patrol Duty.

Hidden Sanzhani Quests Tied to Exploration

Three Sanzhani quests are hidden and only trigger when you discover specific map locations. They do not appear in your journal until you reach the trigger point.

The Unburied (Abandoned Watchtower, Grid H3):

  • Travel to the eastern ridge of Sanzhani territory. The nearest fast-travel point is the Salt Flats Camp (F6); head northeast past the salt pans until you see a collapsed stone tower on a bluff
  • Activate the Sense ability (R3 on controller, V on PC) at the tower's base. You will see a glowing blue outline around a buried chest half-hidden under rubble
  • Interact with the chest to trigger the quest. The Sense ability reveals a prompt reading "Disturbed earth, something was buried here recently"

A Thief's Due (Market Cistern entrance, Grid D5):

  • Enter the cistern beneath the Sanzhani market. The entrance is behind the butcher's stall in the market square; descend the ladder and follow the main tunnel until you reach a corpse propped against a drainage grate
  • Search the corpse to find a pickpocket's note. Reading it initiates the quest
  • This quest is a prerequisite for What the Cistern Keeps, which triggers when you return to the cistern's lower level and read the surgeon's journal on an operating table

Honor Among Thieves (Eastern ridge cave, Grid H4):

  • After completing The Unburied, return to the eastern ridge. A cave entrance on the cliff face south of the watchtower is now accessible, a wooden barricade has been removed
  • Inside, speak to Rook. He will only appear if you completed The Unburied; otherwise the cave is empty

The Sense ability is essential for the hidden quests. When active, it reveals interactive elements within a 15-meter radius as glowing outlines. Hidden quest triggers appear blue; lootable containers appear white. Without using Sense near the trigger points, these quests will never appear in your journal.

Cross-Verify Quest Data Before Committing Time

Because post-launch patches have adjusted quest rewards, use community resources to confirm before you invest in-game days:
