GTA 6 Radio Stations Revealed: On-Foot Listening, Podcasts, and a Star-Studded DJ Roster
For 29 years, the Grand Theft Auto radio dial has been a passenger-seat ritual. You jacked a car, the engine turned over, and a station faded in - surf rock in Vice City, a chat-show host ranting about the decline of civilization in Liberty City, a disc jockey narrating your own rampage over a talk-radio bumper. The music was always something you tuned into while driving, and something you lost the moment you stepped out of the vehicle.
That era ends with GTA 6. On October 8, 2026, Rockstar published its first concrete look at the game's in-game radio via Newswire, revealing six stations and a genuine series first: on-demand podcasts and on-foot listening through smartphone-connected headphones. GTA's radio has been a driving companion for nearly three decades. Rockstar is now turning it into a portable, personal soundtrack.
The Six Stations, Decoded
Rockstar's reveal names six stations, each mapped to a distinct genre:
- Cocoteo FM - modern Latin
- Back Country Radio - country
- AfroBank FM - African music
- The Chamber 106.6 - classic metal
- Flash FM - pop
- Dirty South Classics - regional rap and hip-hop
Flash FM's inclusion carries the most historical weight. The pop station originated in GTA: Vice City, where it was hosted by DJ Toni, and its return reinforces the sense that GTA 6 is positioned as a spiritual successor to that entry. This time around, it is voiced by Robyn and Alex Consani.
Rockstar is claiming GTA 6 will feature the "biggest and widest-ranging selection of in-game radio yet," spanning Classic Rock, Modern Hip-Hop, Pop, Metal, Dance, Latin, '80s, Electronic, Blues, Ballads, Talk Radio, and Podcasts. All six stations are previewable now on the official GTA 6 website.
The Host Roster Is a Music Industry Flex
The DJ list reads less like a game soundtrack and more like a festival lineup. Rockstar has cast real artists as fictional on-air personalities, pairing them in unexpected combinations:
- Cocoteo FM - Bad Bunny as El Martillo and RaiNao as La Gata
- Back Country Radio - Morgan Wallen as MW and Lana Del Rey as Delta Dawne, with Jeremy Dufrene as Mud Dog Mike
- AfroBank FM - Burna Boy as Burna and Palms Trax as Palmsy
- The Chamber 106.6 - Kerry King as DJ Kerry and Tom Araya as DJ Tom
- Flash FM - Robyn and Alex Consani
- Dirty South Classics - Trick Daddy as Trick and Trina
The Kerry King and Tom Araya pairing is a particular statement, uniting Slayer's guitarist Kerry King with the band's vocalist-bassist Tom Araya behind the decks of a metal station. The Morgan Wallen and Lana Del Rey bill on a country station is equally deliberate, bridging mainstream Nashville and alternative pop.
This is not new territory for Rockstar, which has spent decades functioning as an unlikely musical tastemaker. Founders Sam and Dan Houser began their careers at BMG, and the studio holds the Guinness record for most licensed songs in a video game, with 777 tracks in GTA V. Its curation has repeatedly driven real-world streaming numbers: Tom Petty's "Love Is a Long Road" spiked 37,000 percent on Spotify following the December 2023 reveal trailer, and The Pointer Sisters' "Hot Together" climbed 182,000 percent after the second trailer.
How those artist deals are structured remains a live question, and the historical record offers little reassurance. In September 2024, Heaven 17's Martyn Ware publicly described a reported $22,500 buyout offer for the use of "Temptation," a controversy that offered a rare window into the economics of licensing music for games. Rockstar has not disclosed terms for any of the GTA 6 host or track deals.
On-Foot Listening and Podcasts: A Series First
The headline feature is easy to miss beneath the star power. For the first time in the franchise, players can listen to the radio and podcasts on foot, via headphones or earbuds connected to Jason and Lucia's smartphones. No car required.
Rockstar has also confirmed on-demand podcasts, a departure from the "always-active" talk radio stations of previous entries. What exactly that means in practice is not yet fully clear. Video Games Chronicle described the feature using speculative language, suggesting players will "presumably" be able to pick episodes - a reasonable inference, but one Rockstar has not confirmed. The studio has not named any podcast titles or hosts.
Placing this in context helps explain why it matters. The original GTA shipped seven in-house-composed stations in 1997. GTA: London 1969 introduced licensed music in 1999. GTA III added the first talk-radio show in 2001. San Andreas moved to fully licensed, randomized tracks that reacted to in-world events in 2004. GTA IV expanded to 23 stations and introduced signal interference and bandwidth behavior in 2008. On-foot listening is the next step in a 29-year evolution of a single feature, and it fundamentally changes how players will experience the game's soundscape.
Songs, the Standalone Album, and What Else Dropped
The station previews offered a sample of what players can expect. Tracks heard include Bad Bunny's "EoO" on Cocoteo FM, Slayer's "Raining Blood" on The Chamber 106.6, MGMT's "Electric Feel" and Charli xcx's "Good Ones" on Flash FM, and DJ Khaled featuring Trick Daddy, Rick Ross, and Pitbull with "Born N Raised" on Dirty South Classics. That list is illustrative rather than exhaustive, and the full tracklists remain under wraps.
Separately, a 34-track official soundtrack, Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, was announced on September 17, 2026 in partnership with Atlantic Records, and arrives November 19 with six singles already released. The radio stations and the album are distinct projects, though both now live on the official GTA 6 music page.
The timing of the radio reveal was notable in its own right. It landed hours after 25 minutes of new GTA 6 gameplay leaked online from a source identified as "Cyberleek." Rockstar also released three new screenshots alongside the radio news. GTA 6 launches November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with no PC date announced.
What the Dial Says About GTA 6's Ambitions
This reveal is more than a station list. It is Rockstar signaling that GTA 6's radio is no longer a feature you experience only from behind the wheel, but a portable soundtrack that follows you through the streets of Leonida.
The host roster makes a second statement. In assembling Bad Bunny, Lana Del Rey, Burna Boy, Robyn, and members of Slayer onto a single in-game dial, Rockstar is demonstrating that its pull as a cultural curator remains intact, even as the industry around it shifts. Whether that translates into the kind of real-world streaming surges the studio has triggered before will become clear in the weeks after launch.
What remains unannounced is substantial: podcast titles, podcast hosts, and the full station count. Rockstar has described the six stations as a first look, not the complete picture, which suggests more of the dial is still to come. For a game that has been delayed twice, from May 26 to November 19, 2026, each new detail carries additional weight. The radio, it turns out, is only getting started.
