Thirteen years. Two delays. One record-shattering trailer, 93 million views in 24 hours, the most-liked game trailer in YouTube history. Rockstar Games has finally fired the starting gun on the final stretch to launch the most anticipated game in history. On June 18, the studio unveiled the official cover art for Grand Theft Auto VI in a tight 30-second video, a neon-soaked, Vice City-inspired collage that puts protagonists Lucia and Jason front and center. Then came the big date: pre-orders officially begin June 25, 2026. With the November 19 release locked in, the biggest question left dangling is what it will cost. Rockstar has not yet confirmed a price.
The Final Countdown Begins, Pre-Order Details and Timeline
Rockstar confirmed via its official newswire that pre-orders for GTA VI will go live on June 25 across all major digital storefronts, including the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store, as well as at select retailers worldwide. The game launches on November 19, 2026 exclusively for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. A PC port is widely expected in 2027, though Rockstar has not yet confirmed a date.
This marks the first time players can officially secure a copy after more than a decade of waiting since GTA V debuted in 2013. The previous installment remains the second best-selling game of all time, a milestone that only amplifies the pressure on its successor. Alongside the announcement, Rockstar released a story synopsis: Jason and Lucia are a young criminal couple drawn into a sprawling conspiracy across the state of Leonida, a fictionalized version of Florida that includes Vice City, the Everglades-like Grassrivers, and the Leonida Keys.

Decoding the Cover Art, A Neon-Nostalgia Collage
The cover art follows the collage-style tradition established since GTA III. Multiple panels frame the composition, with a helicopter in the top-left corner, a series staple that nods to the franchise's love for aerial chaos. At the center stand Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval, the first dual protagonists in a mainline GTA game, bathed in a wash of pink and blue light against a vibrant Vice City backdrop.
Supporting characters flank the couple. Boobie Ike, introduced in the second trailer as a real-estate mogul and club owner, appears alongside Raul Bautista, a veteran bank robber. A mystery woman, arm draped over Lucia's shoulder in a pose that pays direct homage to the iconic Vice City cover, adds an air of intrigue. Florida-inspired wildlife makes its mark as well: an alligator and a flamingo, reinforcing the sun-scorched, irreverent flavor of Leonida.
The artwork is available as a high-resolution wallpaper from the official GTA VI website. Rockstar also updated its social media profiles with matching blue-and-pink branding, fully committing to the neon-nostalgia aesthetic that has defined the Vice City identity since 2002.

The $100 Question, Pricing Speculation and Industry Stakes
Rockstar has not announced a price alongside the pre-order and cover art news, leaving fans and analysts guessing. Speculation has run rampant. Analysts at Epyllion have suggested that $100 could become the new standard for AAA games, while other industry watchers have floated a range between $80 and $100. Given the game's scale and the years of development, many consider a premium price
