A New Era of Star Wars Creator Games
The centerpiece of this year's celebration is the debut of three new featured islands built by creators using official Star Wars assets made available by Epic Games in March 2026. This marks a significant shift: rather than relying solely on internal development teams, Epic, Disney, and Lucasfilm are empowering the community to shape their own Star Wars adventures.
- Star Wars: Galactic Siege (by JOGO Studios) is a 10v10 PvP class-based capture-the-flag game where strategy meets chaos. A new map tied to the release of The Mandalorian & Grogu will be added after the film's theatrical debut, giving players a fresh battlefield to conquer.
- Star Wars: Droid Tycoon (by "FOAD") allows players to build droids using real blueprints from the Star Wars universe, featuring over 40 in-game droids. For fans who've dreamed of being a Jawa engineer, this is the ultimate workshop.
- Escape Vader (by Beyond Creative) is a 4-player co-op horror experience set on a wrecked Star Destroyer. Dim corridors, the sound of heavy breathing, and a red lightsaber around every corner create an atmosphere that makes every step feel like a gamble.
Beyond these featured islands, hundreds of additional player-created worlds are available using the official Star Wars toolkit. As Adam Sussman, President of Epic Games, explained: "For the first time, Epic, Disney and Lucasfilm, are putting it in the hands of creators... It's a new way for players to come together in Fortnite to play, explore and create their own Star Wars adventures."

The Mandalorian & Grogu Watch Party and Q&A
On May 19, Fortnite will host a special Watch Party Island debuting a 10-minute scene from the upcoming film The Mandalorian & Grogu, which releases theatrically on May 22. Director Jon Favreau will deliver a special message and appear for a Q&A on May 26. Players must complete in-game tasks to unlock an exclusive loading screen—a tangible reward for those who engage with this cinematic crossover.
This integration bridges the gap between cinema and interactive entertainment in a way that few games have attempted. Sean Shoptaw, EVP of Disney Games, noted: "Storytelling today isn't confined to a single screen — it lives in worlds fans can step into and shape together."
James Waugh, SVP at Lucasfilm, was interviewed by IGN about how this collaboration fits into Star Wars canon, underscoring the careful consideration given to lore consistency even in a user-generated environment.
LEGO Fortnite Odyssey Gets a Star Wars Update
On May 14, LEGO Fortnite Odyssey will receive a substantial Star Wars update. New content includes the Hover Bricker, hover vehicles, the Mandalorian and Grogu as playable characters, and Star Wars-themed enemies. This expands the existing LEGO cross-over with Star Wars, blending the franchise's iconic building mechanics with the galaxy far, far away—offering a playful twist on familiar battles.

Cosmetics, Quests, and Free Rewards
This year's celebration brings a wealth of new cosmetics. Players can acquire The Clone Wars skins for Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker, alongside returning Star Wars outfits from previous events. Weekly Star Wars Quests will be released throughout May, offering free rewards. Additionally, players can unlock a free Carbonite Fishstick Back Bling by linking their Fortnite account to MyDisney.
A month-long roadmap of events and content begins on May 1, ensuring that the universe of new experiences unfolds gradually rather than all at once.
The Bigger Picture – Disney's Investment in Interactive Storytelling
This collaboration is more than a seasonal event—it is a preview of a broader entertainment platform. Disney is an investor in Epic Games, and the two companies are developing a shared infrastructure for interactive storytelling. Sean Shoptaw described interactive entertainment as "rapidly becoming one of the defining forces in how audiences experience stories," adding that Disney sees "extraordinary potential" in games for narrative engagement.
Adam Sussman echoed this sentiment, noting that giving creators Star Wars assets allows "a limitless variety of games in the Star Wars universe." This partnership could define the future of cross-IP gaming and user-generated content in Fortnite, setting a precedent for how major entertainment franchises engage with interactive platforms.
Fortnite's Star Wars Day 2026 is more than a celebration—it is a glimpse into the future of interactive entertainment. By handing the keys to creators, Epic and Disney are turning the battle royale into a living Star Wars sandbox. With new games, a movie watch party, and deep lore integration, this May is shaping up to be an unmissable event for Star Wars and Fortnite fans alike.
