Everything Coming to Game Pass from the 2026 Xbox Showcase: 17 Day-One Titles, Surprises & DLC

The Headline Heavyweights: Gears, Fable, Halo & Persona Dominate

The showcase opened with a trio of first-party blockbusters that will define the service for the next 18 months. Gears of War: E-Day launches October 6, 2026, day one on Game Pass, and was confirmed as an Xbox console exclusive with no PS5 version, a deliberate return to platform exclusivity after years of multi-platform releases. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma appeared during the broadcast to reinforce that messaging, calling it “the return of Xbox exclusives.” The game was followed by a dedicated Gears of War: E-Day Direct that delved into its origin story.

Fable finally locked down a release date: February 23, 2027. Fans have waited years for this reboot, and its day-one Game Pass arrival means subscribers won’t have to pay extra for the whimsical open-world adventure. Halo: Campaign Evolved arrives much sooner, on July 28, 2026, bringing a reimagined campaign experience to the service.

JRPG enthusiasts had two reasons to celebrate. Persona 4 Revival drops February 18, 2027, while Persona 6 was confirmed for Game Pass day one, though no release date was shared yet. Both titles represent a massive win for players who prefer subscription-based access to lengthy single-player experiences.

Rounding out the core first-party lineup are State of Decay 3 (2027, day one) and Minecraft Dungeons II (September 29, 2026, day one). The latter continues Mojang’s successful dungeon-crawling spin-off with new biomes and co-op features.

Revivals and Surprises: Spyro, Hellblade, Plague Tale & More

Perhaps the most unexpected reveal was Spyro: A Realm Beyond, a platforming revival slated for Spring 2027. The purple dragon returns after a long absence, and Microsoft secured it as a day-one Game Pass title, a clear signal that the company is willing to invest in beloved legacy IPs.

Ninja Theory, fresh off the cancellation of the experimental Project Mara, announced Senua (2027), a new chapter in the Hellblade saga. The studio’s focus on narrative-driven, psychological horror remains intact, and fans of the series will find it waiting on Game Pass at launch.

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy from Asobo Studio arrives August 27, 2026. This continuation of Amicia and Hugo’s story was one of the showcase’s emotional highlights, and its day-one Game Pass status ensures subscribers can dive in immediately.

Other new IPs and surprises include Join Us (March 2027) from the We Happy Few team, Clockwork Revolution (2027, Xbox console exclusive, no PS5), Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember (2027), and Valor Mortis (September 24, 2026). Also joining the slate are Bad Magpie, Vivarium, and Magicians: The Devil’s Deal, all day-one Game Pass titles, though none have exact release dates beyond a 2027 window.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse arrives October 15, 2026, and was listed as a Game Pass title during the showcase. While day-one availability has not been officially confirmed, sources indicate it will be on the service at launch; we’ll update when Microsoft provides final details.

Live-Service Updates and DLC Flooding Game Pass

Beyond full game releases, the showcase devoted significant time to content updates for Xbox’s existing live-service titles, all free to Game Pass subscribers.

June brings two major free updates: Sea of Thieves Season 20 (June 18) adds new voyages and a pirate legend mode, while Fallout 76: Infestations (already live as of June 2) introduces mutated creature hordes. July packs four releases: Elder Scrolls Online: Return of the Thieves Guild arrives July 8, reviving one of Tamriel’s most popular factions; Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 World Update 22 drops July 4, featuring new aerial photography and hand-crafted landmarks; Doom: The Dark Ages - Revelations DLC hits July 7, offering new campaign missions set in the demonic medieval era; and Where Winds Meet: Hidden Mountain expands the martial arts RPG later that month.

Xbox also celebrated its 25th anniversary with the announcement of the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition hardware, a translucent console reminiscent of the original Crystal Xbox. The limited run will be available later this year.

What’s NOT Coming to Game Pass, and Why It Matters

Not every game showcased at the event made the cut for day-one Game Pass. Metro 2039 (February 2027) and Crazy Taxi: World Tour (2027) were both shown with release windows but were explicitly not confirmed as subscription titles.

This selectivity is strategic. Microsoft continues to prioritize first-party and exclusive third-party deals that drive subscriber growth, while allowing other high-profile titles to serve as storefront drivers. The omission of Metro 2039 is particularly notable given that previous Metro games have appeared on Game Pass after launch, suggesting a potential future addition rather than day-one sacrifice.

The showcase also avoided addressing the ongoing Call of Duty controversy, where day-one Game Pass status was recently removed for future entries, a policy shift Microsoft did not address, suggesting a recalibration of expectations for third-party blockbusters.

A New Era for Subscribers

With 17 day-one Game Pass games, a host of live-service updates, and the return of Xbox console exclusives, the 2026 showcase was a clear statement: Microsoft is betting big on Game Pass as the ultimate subscription for players. Whether you are hyped for Gears, Fable, Persona 6, or a revived Spyro, the next year and a half is shaping up to be one of the service’s strongest lineups ever.
