Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival Gets October 8 Launch Date - New Red Band Trailer Shows Empowered Horror

Trailer Details and Release Date

The June 16, 2026 Red Band trailer debuted on IGN and other outlets, showcasing extreme body horror, sexual explicitness, and classic Cenobite designs. Pinhead, Chatterer, Butterball, and Deep Throat all make appearances, rendered in Unreal Engine 5 with a fidelity that honors the gruesome practical effects of the original 1987 film. The trailer pushes the M rating to its limits, promising a faithful, unflinching adaptation of Barker’s vision. The video confirms the game launches October 8, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, resolving a minor date discrepancy that led some outlets to erroneously report an October 6 launch. Pre-orders are now live across all platforms. Saber Interactive has not yet released official system requirements, but the Unreal Engine 5 trailer suggests a high-end GPU will be recommended for 4K/60fps playback.

The video itself is a showcase of what the game’s director Emil Esov calls “visceral, first-person carnage.” Chains whip across cramped corridors, cultists scream as they are torn apart by telekinetic force, and the camera lingers on a Cenobite’s freshly flayed skin. It is not for the faint of heart, but for Hellraiser fans, it is exactly the kind of unapologetic horror they have been waiting for.

From Victim to Demon, The Genesis Configuration’s Empowered Gameplay

Perhaps the most intriguing departure from traditional survival horror is the introduction of the Genesis Configuration, a new puzzle box distinct from the film’s iconic Lament Configuration. While the Lament Configuration was a macguffin that opened the door to the Cenobite Labyrinth, the Genesis Configuration is an active tool that grants the player three demonic abilities: pyrokinesis, telekinesis, and Hell Chains.

This shifts the genre formula from helplessness to empowered action. Players take on the role of Aidan, a man who must navigate the Labyrinth to rescue his girlfriend Sunny. Instead of hiding in lockers or relying on scarce ammunition, Aidan can blast enemies with fire, hurl objects using telekinesis, and summon chains that impale and drag foes. The combat is described as Doom-style in its aggression, a stark contrast to the slow-burn tension of games like Amnesia or Outlast. Enemy types range from cultists to Cenobite priests, each requiring different tactical approaches.

The game is built on Unreal Engine 5, and early previews from Gamescom 2025 praised the fluidity of the combat system. Director Emil Esov noted in a developer diary that the team wanted players to feel “like a Cenobite, not a victim.” The Genesis Configuration is the key to that power, and its three abilities can be upgraded and combined as the story progresses.

The Original Story, Barker Co-Writes, Bradley Returns as Pinhead

Hellraiser: Revival is not a direct adaptation of any single film. Instead, it presents an original narrative co-written by franchise creator Clive Barker himself. The story follows Aidan as he ventures into the Cenobite Labyrinth to rescue his girlfriend Sunny, who has been taken by Pinhead’s forces. Along the way, Aidan discovers the Genesis Configuration and learns its dark secrets.

Doug Bradley reprises his legendary role as the voice of Pinhead, his first major video game voice performance since Dead by Daylight. The actor, now in his 70s, brings the same chilling cadence and understated menace that defined the character in the first eight Hellraiser films. Classic Cenobites like Chatterer, Butterball, and Deep Throat also return, alongside new enemy types designed in consultation with Barker.

Barker’s involvement ensures authenticity. The writer has been vocal about his dissatisfaction with many of the later Hellraiser sequels and the 2022 reboot, but he has praised Saber Interactive’s approach. In a press release, Barker stated that the game “captures the essence of what Hellraiser is about: the seduction of the forbidden and the price of curiosity.” The story expands the mythology while staying true to the themes of pain, pleasure, and transcendence that define the franchise.

Pricing, Editions, and Pre-Order Incentives

Saber Interactive and co-publisher Boss Team Games have announced three editions for Hellraiser: Revival. The Standard Edition costs $39.99, the Deluxe Edition costs $49.99 (with additional digital content), and the Collector’s Edition is priced at $199.99 and includes exclusive licensed collectibles. Full details on the Collector’s Edition contents are expected closer to launch.

Pre-ordering any edition unlocks two in-game bonuses: the Labyrinth Pistol Skin and the Martyr Sawblade Skin. These cosmetic items are exclusive to pre-order purchases, so fans looking to customize their weapons early will want to lock in their order before launch.

Saber Interactive is no stranger to licensed horror games. The studio previously developed Evil Dead: The Game and has experience with asymmetric multiplayer and survival horror. Boss Team Games, known for Evil Dead and Texas Chain Saw Massacre tie-ins, brings additional publishing muscle. The partnership suggests a commitment to quality and a respect for source material.

Hell is Closer Than Ever

With a concrete launch date, a gory new trailer, and the exciting promise of empowered gameplay that honors the source material, Hellraiser: Revival is positioning itself as a standout horror title for October 2026. Whether Aidan will master the Genesis Configuration or become another victim of the Labyrinth remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: this October, Hell is closer than ever. Pre-orders are live now on Steam, PlayStation Store, and Xbox Marketplace.
