How to Get Magicite in Final Fantasy Resonance: Every Magicite Source and How to Spend It
Magicite in FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE comes from treasure chests, main-story and sub-quest rewards, specific bosses and unique enemies, and later from the Colosseum and Oblivion Palace. You cannot spend Magicite Shards until the latter part of Chapter 1 - Tailing the Truth, when you interact with the Moogle of Light to raise a Vision's Awakening Level. Because supply is limited by design, plan which Visions you awaken rather than trying to max the full roster. The Colosseum shop is the repeatable late-game Magicite source for players who want more.
The game launched on 22 October 2026 at $49.99 across PS5, Switch, Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and it is the first HD-2D entry in the series: a single-player reimagining of the first Brave Exvius arc with the gacha mechanics and microtransactions stripped out. If you want context on how that conversion turned out, the Final Fantasy Resonance Review Roundup covers the critical consensus.

What you need before you start hunting
- FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE on PS5, Switch, Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S or PC.
- Progress to the latter part of Chapter 1 - Tailing the Truth, where the Moogle of Light Awakening interaction unlocks.
- At least one Magicite Shard in your inventory. Chests in Chapter 1 are the earliest source.
- For the Colosseum route: a party around recommended level 25 to start the leagues, climbing toward the level 99 fights against Shinryu and Omega (per fan-wiki guides; not confirmed by Square Enix materials).
- Optional but useful: the free demo covers the entire first chapter with save transfer, so you can bank early Shards before buying the full game.
Unlock Vision Awakening at the Moogle of Light
Magicite Shards are collectible from the very start, but spending them is gated behind story progress. That gate lifts in the latter part of Chapter 1 - Tailing the Truth. Once it does, interact with the Moogle of Light to raise a Vision's Awakening Level.
Awakening uncaps a Vision's star level, and each tier of the resource covers a different star:
| Item | Awakening tier unlocked |
|---|---|
| Magicite Shard | 1-Star Awakening |
| Magicite | 2-Star Awakening |
| Magicite Cryst | 3-Star Awakening |
Awakening grants stronger abilities plus higher-level skills and magic, which makes it the main power track for your Visions. The system sits at the centre of the game's progression: Visions are crystallized character essences drawn from across the series, each granting stats, skills, magic and a unique Resonance attack, and any party member can equip any Vision.
Collect Magicite Shards from Chapter 1 chests and bosses
Chapter 1 is the cheapest Magicite source you will ever get, and it is easy to walk past half of the Shards on offer. Sweep every dungeon before you move on.
- Marauder Cave: leave Grandport Harbor by the north-east exit and follow the coastal path to the cave mouth; the Shard chest sits at the back of the main chamber.
- Marauder Cave Master: beat it for a second Shard.
- Siren's Tower: after the Genji Gloves chest and the Gilgamesh encounter, continue into the rearmost chamber of the tower and take the left-hand passage to its end, where the Shard chest waits.
- Siren boss: beat the Siren fight for another Shard.
- Grandport Harbor: complete the Rear Support, Ahoy sub quest for a Shard next to the Oblivion Palace.
That is five Shards from one chapter, from chests, boss drops and a sub quest. If you are still weighing up whether the game is for you, the demo covers this entire chapter and carries your save into the full release, so you can bank these before committing.
Bank Shards from Oblivion Palace
Oblivion Palace Room 1 holds two more Shards behind a separate collectible layer:
- Chest 3 requires 9 Tablet Shards.
- Chest 7 requires 24 Tablet Shards.
Tablet Shards are not Magicite. They are their own collectible track, tied to Oblivion Palace rewards and the Lightbringer, so do not spend one expecting the other. Oblivion Palace also appears among the later activities that supply Magicite, which makes it a mid-to-late farming stop rather than an early one. Clear the Tablet Shard requirements as you go and the chests open themselves.

Buy Magicite at the Colosseum shop
The Colosseum is a league-based progression running from roughly recommended level 25 up to 99, with first-win rewards along the way and Shinryu and Omega waiting at the top. The shop becomes available as you work through those leagues, so treat the early ranks as the unlock path and the later ones as your shopping trip.
Once it is open, the shop sells Magicite, and it also stocks a Magicite Cryst. The Cryst is a heavy gil sink, so weigh it against your remaining league first-win rewards before buying. The shop also sells unlimited Magicite Shards for 10k gil once you have completed all Fledgling battles.
Two rules keep the Colosseum from eating your wallet:
- Clear leagues for first-win rewards before you start buying. Free stock is always better value than paid stock.
- Check whether a league first-win reward already covers the tier you are about to purchase.
Choose which Visions to awaken
Magicite is deliberately limited, so which Visions you awaken is a real decision rather than a completionist checklist. Any party member can equip any Vision, so a single awakened Vision can serve multiple party slots.
- Prioritise Visions whose Resonance attack and skill set you actually use in your main lineup.
- Hold Crysts for the Vision you intend to carry into the Colosseum's top leagues rather than spreading them thin.
- Treat the roster as a shortlist, not a to-do list. Maxing everything is not the intended path.
If you have already spent Shards
Magicite is limited, so which Visions you awaken is a decision the player makes rather than something every Vision eventually receives. If you have poured Shards into a Vision you never field, the practical fix is to build the party around it rather than start over: any character can equip it, so slot it into a lineup that uses its Resonance attack and skills and let the investment pay off there. From that point on, spend only on Visions already in your endgame plan.
If you want more Shards after Chapter 1, the Colosseum Item Shop sells them for 10k gil once you have completed all Fledgling battles, and Oblivion Palace Room 1 holds two more behind Tablet Shard requirements.
Common mistakes
- Trying to spend Shards before the Moogle of Light Awakening unlocks. They sit unusable until late Chapter 1.
- Confusing Magicite with Tablet Shards. They are separate collectibles, and Tablet Shards gate Oblivion Palace chests, not Awakening.
- Skipping Chapter 1 chests and boss drops, then paying Colosseum prices for what you could have picked up free.
- Buying a Magicite Cryst before checking whether a league first-win reward covers the same tier.
- Awakening Visions you never field, which starves the ones in your actual party.
Build a Vision awakening order around the Colosseum
Everything above points at one job: decide your endgame lineup before you spend a single Shard.
Map your party's Visions against the Colosseum league levels, from 25 up to 99, and awaken the ones you will actually take into Shinryu and Omega. Finish Oblivion Palace's Tablet Shard requirements so the Room 1 chests are claimed rather than sitting there, and carry your demo save data over so early Shards are not wasted on a throwaway file. Do that, and the resource that is designed to run short will land exactly where your party needs it.
