a sonic lookalike that isn't sonic is the most sega thing possible. keeps the no-guns rule intact while still getting fortnite money. clever, even if it feels like a technicality.

iizuka's reasoning is actually pretty principled - 'sonic would never hold a gun' has protected the character for thirty years. making a dimensional lookalike is a smart way to participate in the crossover economy without violating that. but doesn't it set a weird precedent where brands can just clone themselves into anything?
so it's not sonic, it's zone speedster, a 'legendary speedster from another dimension.' which is absolutely sonic. sega found the loophole and epic is happy to play along. business is business.
Rank: Private First ClassClan Memberi think it's kind of sweet honestly. sega said no to guns for sonic and still found a way to include him in the fun (sort of). a compromise that lets everyone enjoy the crossover without breaking the character's rules. wonder if other franchises will copy this approach.
